After graduating from Indiana University in 1993, Jennifer attended Emory University College of Law, a top 25 law school, where she graduated in 1996.

Following graduation, Jennifer was admitted to the bar in Georgia in 1996, in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1997 and in the State of Indiana in 1999.  She was admitted to practice in the federal courts of the Southern District of Indiana and the Eastern District of Virginia.

Jennifer began her career as a lawyer working at the DeKalb County Public Defender’s Office in Atlanta, Georgia. Jennifer had not guilty verdicts in robbery, burglary, rape and theft cases in Georgia. In 1997 Jennifer went to work in the personal injury section of Michie Hamlett Lowry Rasmussen & Tweel, a leading Virginia law firm located in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Jennifer was a member of the trial team in the case of Tommy Hoar vs. Great Eastern Resort Management and won at the time the largest ski verdict in Virginia history.  Jennifer led the appeal which resulted in upholding the $6.2 million dollar verdict.
